New York, December 9, 2014 — Neuberger Berman, one of the world’s leading employee-controlled investment managers, is honored to be named for the second consecutive year among the Best Places to Work in Money Management by Pensions & Investments, the international newspaper of money management, in its annual survey released December 8, 2014.
In this year’s survey, Neuberger Berman ranked second among the five winning firms in the category of employers with 1,000 employees or more. In Pensions & Investments’ 2013 survey, Neuberger Berman ranked third in the same category. Twenty-nine U.S.-based firms are ranked as this year’s Best Places to Work.
“We’re honored to be recognized by Pensions & Investments in this prestigious industry survey,” said George Walker, Neuberger Berman’s chairman and chief executive officer. “Celebrating our 75th anniversary this year, we remain aware that as investors consider whom to entrust with their irreplaceable capital, they seek out investment managers that are able to attract, develop and retain the talent to handle this important task.”
Walker continued “employee satisfaction and stability over time results in an experienced team and consistent investment processes. We are proud that over 95% of client assets are managed by lead portfolio managers with 20 or more years of experience and that our managers average 28 years of experience. This continuity is bolstered by the broad employee ownership of our firm. We are confident our employee ownership model more closely aligns us with the interests of our clients and turns our primary focus to serving them for the long term.”
The Pensions & Investments survey to determine the 2014 Best Places to Work in Money Management was performed in partnership with survey group Buck Consultants. To participate, money managers and organizations with investment and investment-related operations had to register, complete an employer survey and provide staff e-mail addresses for an employee survey. Employee survey responses accounted for 60% of an organization’s score and employer survey responses, 40%. While firms differed in the reasons they won this award, they were similar in their positive cultures and work environments, strong degrees of employee engagement and excellent benefits packages.
